Since their inception some 500 years ago, graphite pencils have been used heavily by artists to create draft sketches and mark-outs for pieces, as well as wholesale works of art.

The nature of graphite allows for work to be produced in relatively short time frames, and from practically any location, often leading to artists laying out the piece directly from their source of inspiration.

Unparalleled in its ability to produce striking tonal modality, pencil drawings are often used to create still life art, nude art, and floral art, with colour often not being added to the piece, allowing the stark contrast between the lighter and darker applications of lead to produce visually striking pieces.
